Manifesto

Modest fashion is in. It’s being showcased in the windows of mainstream stores, and on the runways of the big 4 fashion weeks in Paris, Milan, London and New York. Women who have long been ostracised, or deemed frumpy, unstylish and “backwards” for covering up are finally being accepted and praised  for their sartorial choices. Now, modesty is deemed fashion forward.

We are a safe space void of judgement and fashion policing. We celebrate modesty in all of its diverse forms. We do not define modest fashion, or prescribe parameters, guidelines or dress codes.

Modesty is a personal plight and an ever-evolving journey for those attracted to the ideals behind covering, rather than revealing, their skin. We do not preach any particular interpretations of modesty, nor do we judge women who don’t identify with modest fashion – we simply celebrate the inclusion of modest fashion in the mainstream industry, and are happy to have a seat at the big table.

Inclusivity is one of the inherent principles of the modest fashion movement and we celebrate women of all religions, races and walks of life. Modest fashion is being painted in a new and empowered light, and voices that have been suppressed and underrepresented now have space to be heard. This is a platform for those voices: the  designers, models, entrepreneurs and trailblazing change-makers of these exciting times in fashion.
