Today, Coach unveiled the images from its highly anticipated collaboration with athletic brand, Champion. How might a label known for its luxury leather bags create a collection with a brand known for its minimalist athleisure sets, you may wonder? From the genius logomania play that makes the subtle background of the campaign shots and leather goods, to the laid-back luxe energy embodied in the clothing, the collaboration shows an effortless merging of the two brands, and starring as one of the faces of the campaign is none other than Maha Gondol, a modern, millennial face of modest fashion who lives in Toronto.
A recent Vogue article about her viral TikToks put Maha in the spotlight – one she had already made for herself thanks to her presence on social media, where she has amassed more than 109,000 followers on TikTok and almost 50,0000 on Instagram, under her moniker, @Moxeb.
The newly-launched campaign, titled “How to Coach a Champion”, shows Maha slaying in an oversized red sweater, hooded leather jacket and slides worn with socks. She models two bags from the collection, and accessorises with bold, gold rings and hoop earrings. A slicked-back ponytail with numerous barrette clips, and extra-long nail extensions stamped with logos and Champion’s distinctive colours complete her fashion forward looks.
“My biggest thing is layering,” she stated in an interview with Nylon. “I love to layer and that’s what I usually recommend for anyone who wants to dress modestly. Another big tip is to mix patterns and textures — that makes a huge, huge difference when it comes to dressing modestly. And just have fun with it because fashion should never be taken too seriously.”
