Matching sets and co-ords were one of last winter’s most-loved trends, even if they were primarily worn as #WFH athleisure. But as vaccine rates across the globe rise, and as we increasingly venture outdoors, we suspect matching sets will remain key style staples, especially as we transition into spring. Our predictions put loose and roomy silhouettes at the forefront of the trend, in a palette of neutral and earthy tones.
For us, this set by Nanushka, available online at Shopbop, epitomises spring/summer 2021 fashion. Stylish and incredibly versatile, the set is from the brand’s Resort 2021 collection, which takes inspiration from the glittering oceanic landscape (reflected in the metallic sheen of the metallic, crinkled crepe fabric).
For the ultimate sartorial statement, tuck one half of the top into the waistband of the high-waisted trousers (ideally the lower twist layer). Since comfort is key (not to mention, one of the underlying elements of the modest fashion movement), our footwear of choice would be trainers, with a splash of silver glitter. These Golden Goose kicks do just the trick. And, to finish it off, we’d opt for a feminine, faux-leather 90s-inspired shoulder bag from House of Want in an uplifting hue of lemon yellow, with punchy chain detailing.
